Experience Saving Grace…for yourself!

The Gospel is good news! The good news is that no matter what you have done or how far away from God you may feel, Jesus has made it possible for you to be restored to a right relationship with God. To experience the forgiveness Jesus has made available, there are a few simple truths we must understand.

1. No One is Good Enough

One of the most common beliefs about salvation is that God will ultimately save everyone whose “good deeds” outweigh their “bad deeds”. However, God’s standard is perfection and none of us have lived a perfect life. That’s why the Bible tells us that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory (perfection) of God” –Romans 3:23. When we recognize this fact we realize no matter how good we are in the future, God’s forgiveness and acceptance is a goal we can never attain by our own goodness.

2. Jesus Paid the Price

The wrong that we have done has made us guilty before God and earned God’s punishment. “For the wages of sin is death” – Romans 6:23. This punishment is what the Bible refers to as (spiritual) death – being separated from God and becoming the object of his wrath. The good news of the gospel is that Jesus suffered God’s wrath in our place when he died on the cross. He endured the punishment that we deserved so that we could receive the forgiveness we did not deserve. That’s called Grace!

3. Receiving the Gift

When we forsake our attempts to earn God’s forgiveness and place our trust completely in what Jesus has already done for us, we experience God’s saving grace. The gift of his salvation becomes ours! “but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” – Romans 6:23. His grace introduces us into a brand new relationship with God that allows us to call him our Heavenly Father.

ABC’s of Salvation

Accept -that you are a sinner and repent of your sin
Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners–of whom I am the worst. (1 Timothy 1:15)

Believe – that Jesus paid the price for your sin and he alone is your hope of salvation
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

Confess – your sin to God and ask Jesus Christ to become the Lord of your life
That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)
